Certified Professional Disability Management (CPDM) Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to take the CPDM courses in order: CPDM 1, then CPDM 2 and then
finish with CPDM 3?
Yes, the coursese are designed to be taken in this sequence.
What are the suggested prerequisites?
General knowledge or exposure to claims, risk or insurance
management, financial and human resources, safety and loss control, the legal
system, agent/broker services, the application of group health benefits and/or
disability benefits and third party administration.It is suggested that
prospective students take one of the following prior to enrolling in CPDM
- CA 8 -Workers' Compensation Claims for Non-Technical Personnel
- Disability 101: Non-Occupational Issues
How long does it take to complete the designation?
Taking one course per semester, it will take one year to complete the designation.
What is the CE requirement?
Six hours of continuing education in workers' compensation
or disability management each year.

What is the difference between classroom and on-site CPDM offerings?
The method of delivery. Classroom students go to the location one night a week for 11 weeks, the on-line student logs onto the website at least once per week for 11 weeks.
Is the online course self-paced?
Each online CPDM course is 11 weeks in length and students are required to do weekly assignments according to the schedule set by the instructor.
How do I get information about the online course?
Course materials, student guide, audio tapes, video tapes and text are mailed to the student. Other materials are provided online in the form of web lectures, e-mail attachments and weblinks.
How do I interact with the online instructor and students?
You will interact via a computer discussion board (unattended), through a chat
room, via e-mail, and through weekly teleconferences.
