Which Insurance Institute of America programs does the IEA offer?
We offer INS, ARM, AIC, AIS, CPCU, and INTRO., just to mention a few. Individual offerings will vary from semester to semester. Check availability at your location by clicking on 'Education' and the 'Semester Courses'.

How do I register for a Course?
You can register directly from the website by selecting your course and clicking on the 'register' button. To register via the website you'll need a credit card number. Alternatively, you can download the form (PDF; 16Kb) and fax to (714) 689-0112, or call (800) 655-4432 to register over the phone.

How do I withdraw from an IEA course?

Can I get continuing education credit for the IIA courses I'm taking at IEA?
Continuing education credit for an IEA course will be granted to a student achieving a grade of 'C' or better, or by attending from more than 80% of the semester course time allocated. The IEA will provide students successfully completing a state approved course with a final grade report and a certificate of completion. Students must maintain the certificate of completion issued for a period of five years and make the certificate available to the California Department of Insurance, as required.

What is covered in the CPCU courses?
The program consists of eleven courses and exams, plus ethics and experience requirements. You must pass eight courses to earn the CPCU designation. All candidates must complete the five foundation courses. In addition, you select either the commercial or personal insurance concentration and complete the three courses in the concentration of your choosing. You may not combine courses from concentrations. The CPCU courses focus on legal, financial, and operational aspects of risk management and insurance, as well as financial services. They reflect the current business environment, and provide a broad understanding of property-casualty insurance.

Do I need to take the CPCU courses in any particular order?
The best sequence in which to take the CPCU courses depends upon the educational background and work experience of the individual.

How many weeks are in the semester of my CPCU program?
A full semester is sixteen weeks.

How often does IEA offer programs?
Programs are offered in the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Check the website for availability in your area for the program of your choice.

IEA must be notified prior to the start of class and is subject to IEA and instructor approval. Full fee payment is required.
